About the Hauxley
Named after the Northumberland coast, the Hauxley is the simplest bed we make. A clean platform, low to the floor, with a low flat headboard.
It's made from solid pine, finished with a natural hard wax oil that warms gently with age. The grain shows. The knots show. Nothing is hidden behind paint or veneer.
If you want a bed that's well made and unfussy, this is the one.

What mattress should I use?
The Hauxley uses pine slats spaced for good ventilation. Any UK-standard mattress will work — we particularly like Naturalmat's pocket-sprung range for natural materials and longevity.
